LED Lighting – Should we really upgrade

I have included a link to the governments energy website for more specific info. Click here.

I have been using LED lights now for many years. First, I converted all of those 100 and 200 watt bulbs used for outdoor lighting to 3 watt or 5 watt LED bulbs. This was no small matter, there are more than 15 outdoor lights using Dusk to Dawn photosensors. The LED lights supplied more than enough lighting for my nighttime security needs. Reports state they use 90% less energy, and last 15 times longer. The money I saved the first month was incredible, so I continued upgrading all of my home interior bulbs.

I tried 3,5, and 8 watt bulbs to see which would provide the best lighting needed throughout my home. I was able to use 3 watt everywhere except for the bathroom and kitchen, here I used 5 watt LED bulbs. Next I headed to the garage where I used fluorescent fixtures ( 2 bulb T12’s), these double fixtures used (2) 35 watt T12 bulbs. With a little work I removed the old ballast and wired each fixture to use a single 18 watt LED T12 style bulb. I was amazed that a single 18w LED bulb was brighter than 2 of the old 35w bulbs. I had 4 fixtures in the garage with a total of 8-T12 bulbs (35w x 8 = 280 watts of used energy) and now I use only 4 bulbs in total (4 x 18w = 72 watts).

I have learned LED bulbs do save me a lot of money each month, on energy use and less replacement costs. I also run my outdoor security lighting throughout the entire night knowing the costs are practically negligible now.

Minimal costs were necessary to upgrade light fixtures and the only downside I see is bulb selection which continues to confuse most consumers. Rabbit Handyman is ready to help, a simple phone call can quickly improve the lifestyles of our customers. Let us help put more money in your pocket.
